  Enlisted on April 25^th, 1898, at Cheyenne, Wyoming, for two years service; mustered into service as a Private in Company F on May 10^th, 1898, at Cheyenne, Wyoming; sick in quarters from June 4^th to 15^th, August 27^th, 31^st, and September 1^st, 1898; in the hospital from September 2^nd to 7^th, 1898, for a granular abscess to the left groin followed by a cancroid that were incurred outside of the line of duty, and again from September 8^th to October 9^th, 1898, with a granular abscess to the upper third left femoral space, inner surface, in the line of duty; in the hospital from November 1^st to 6^th, 1898, with a bubo to the left side following cancroids, not in the line of duty; in the hospital from April 3^rd to 7^th, 1899, with remittent malarial fever incurred in the line of duty; in the hospital from May 1^st to 23^rd and 27^th to 29^th 1899, with sub-acute gastroenteritis incurred in the line of duty; in the hospital from May 28^th to July 9^th, 1899, with acute dysentery incurred in the line of duty; sick in hospital from July 9^th to August 5^th, 1899, with acute dysentery incurred in the line of duty; mustered out of service with the Company on September 23^rd, 1899, at San Francisco, California. [Applied for a pension on July 11^th, 1906, as a result of dysentery contracted in the Philippines around February 14^th, 1899, as well as pemphigus and pleurisy that were the results of the change in clime and life during his service, the claim was rejected on March 10^th, 1910, due to the lack of evidence that any of his ailments were the result of his service, and was again rejected on February 11^th, 1911; had the lower middle third of his left leg amputated on March 21^st, 1911.]
