1ST WYOMING VOLUNTEER INFANTRY BATTALION

The Company was organized in Douglas, Converse County, Wyoming, however due to the rejection of several of the recruits from the company, the men from Company A of the 1st Regiment, Wyoming National Guard, from Laramie, Albany County, Wyoming, were merged into the Company, and it and was mustered into service as Company F of the 1st Wyoming Volunteer Infantry Battalion.

    Enlisted on April 25th, 1898, at Cheyenne, Wyoming, for two years service; mustered into service as a Private in Company F on May 10th, 1898, at Cheyenne, Wyoming; sick in quarters from June 4th to 15th, August 27th, 31st, and September 1st, 1898; in the hospital from September 2nd to 7th, 1898, for a granular abscess to the left groin followed by a cancroid that were incurred outside of the line of duty, and again from September 8th to October 9th, 1898, with a granular abscess to the upper third left femoral space, inner surface, in the line of duty; in the hospital from November 1st to 6th, 1898, with a bubo to the left side following cancroids, not in the line of duty; in the hospital from April 3rd to 7th, 1899, with remittent malarial fever incurred in the line of duty; in the hospital from May 1st to 23rd and 27th to 29th 1899, with sub-acute gastroenteritis incurred in the line of duty; in the hospital from May 28th to July 9th, 1899, with acute dysentery incurred in the line of duty; sick in hospital from July 9th to August 5th, 1899, with acute dysentery incurred in the line of duty; mustered out of service with the Company on September 23rd, 1899, at San Francisco, California. [Applied for a pension on July 11th, 1906, as a result of dysentery contracted in the Philippines around February 14th, 1899, as well as pemphigus and pleurisy that were the results of the change in clime and life during his service, the claim was rejected on March 10th, 1910, due to the lack of evidence that any of his ailments were the result of his service, and was again rejected on February 11th, 1911; had the lower middle third of his left leg amputated on March 21st, 1911.]
