Maki, Basalt, Colo., died Tuesday, Jan. 3 at Tri County Clinic in Carbondale, Colo. after a short illness. Denis was born Dec. 18, 1965 in Denver, Colo., to George R. and Edinna Sharp Maki. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George R. Maki, Superior; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Sharp, Green River; three uncles and two aunts. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Rogan Chapel in Rock Springs, the Rev. Fred Plocher officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Rock Springs. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 6, 1967 Jess Johnson, Former Area Resident, Dies Jess Johnson, former resident of Stansbury and Rock Springs, died Wednesday evening at Laramie, according to a telephone message from his wife to Mrs. J.M. McLennan, 1314 11th Street, Rock Springs. The Johnsons moved to Laramie several years ago. Mr. Johnson, a native of Iowa, is survived by his wife, Alberta Rodd Johnson, sister of the late Thomas H. Butler of Rock Springs. Other survivors are a son, Dr. James Johnson of Rawlins, an optometrist; several sons and daughters, living in Iowa, and a nephew, David McNeish, Rock Springs. The body, accompanied by relatives, will be taken by train early Friday morning to Iowa, where funeral services will be held. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 7, 1967 ANTON RAMOUSH Anton Ramoush, 87, 911 Seventh Street, a Rock Springs resident since 1902, died Friday, Dec. 30 at 9:20 p.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient three days. A retired coal miner, Mr. Ramoush was born June 14, 1897, in Skofja Loka, Yugoslavia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Ramoush. He was a member of the South Slavonic Catholic Union, SNPJ Lodge and United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include two sons, William P., Spokane, Wash., and Frank M., Pinedale; one daughter, Mrs. Marshall (Elsie) Thayer, Sheridan; one stepson, Matt O’Black, Rock Springs; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. HUGH McLEOD Funeral services for Mrs. Hugh (Anna) McLeod, 86, 844 Seventh Street, were held Tuesday morning at Vase Funeral Home in Rock Springs. The Rev. Douglas Wasson of First Congregational Church officiated. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. Mrs. McLeod died Friday, Dec. 30, 1966, at her home following an illness of three weeks. The deceased suffered a heart attack and died about 11 a.m., according to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase. She was found at 4:30 p.m. by a neighbor, Mrs. Frances Koler, who had gone to help her with supper. Born in Switzerland in 1880, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. A.V. (Ella) Andrews, Davis, Calif.; one son, John S., San Leandro, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Berta Wagner, Zurich, Switzerland; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, in 1951. CATHERINE CHAUSSART Mrs. Catherine M. Chaussart, 57, former Sweetwater County commissioner and well-known resident of Superior and Rock Springs, died Friday, Dec. 30, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Hamilton, Pocatello, Idaho, after a long illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Rock Springs. The Rev. Charles Bartek officiated. Burial was in the family plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Rosary was recited Monday evening at Rogan Chapel. Mrs. Chaussart was born July 16, 1909, in Kansas and was married to Arthur Chaussart in Rock Springs in 1934. He died in 1953. The deceased was a graduate of the University of Wyoming and was a school teacher in the area for 11 years. She operated a grocery store in Superior for 12 years and was a county commissioner for eight years. She was president of Superior Parent-Teacher Association and the Altar Society of St. Vivian’s Catholic Church in Superior. He had been in ill health since August. Mr. Cederburg, a maintenance man for Stauffer chemical Co., was born April 19, 1907, in Corning, Iowa. He moved to Rock Springs from Antelope county, Neb., in 1954. Survivors include his wife, Sadie, Rock Springs; three sons, James and Bill, Rock Springs, and Sgt. She had been in ill health two years and had been hospitalized two months. The former Blanche Moss, Mrs. Fisher was born Sept. 10, 1899, in Levan, Utah, the daughter of Hirum and Lena Moss. The family later moved to Rock Springs. Survivors include her husband, Ray, Cheyenne; two sons, Amos, Cheyenne, and James, Rawlins; three brothers, Lawrence H. Mr. Yenko, a Rock Springs resident 46 years, was born Nov. 25, 1904, in Skofja Loka, Yugoslavia. A coal miner, he was a member of the SNPJ Lodge and United Mine Workers of America. He served at the church for nine years until 1958, when he retired and moved to California. The former Louise Baker, Mrs. Oliver was born Feb. 18, 1892, in Rock Springs, the daughter of Joseph and Lydia Haywood Baker, pioneer residents of the community. She was married to Robert Oliver Dec. 23, 1913, in Rock Springs. Mrs. Oliver was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Episcopal Church. (UPI)—Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday in Worland for pioneer Wyoming newspaperman and author William F. Bragg Sr., 74, who died in Casper Thursday. Bragg, the father of State Republican Party and Executive Secretary Bill Bragg Jr., was born in Lander in 1892 and lived most of his life in Wyoming. He was an infantry officer in World War I, and worked on newspapers at Worland, Casper and Fresno, Calif. Mr. Birleffi is survived by his wife, Martha, San Francisco; two daughters, Mrs. Ted Tangolli, Rock Springs, and Mrs. Guerrino Zotti, and one son, Evo Birleffi, both of San Francisco; three brothers, Modesto, Rock Springs, Joe, Calistoga, Calif., and Victor Birleffi, Sunrise, Calif.; one sister, living in Italy; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. VLAMIS Nick John Vlamis, 76, Rock Springs, died Friday at 3:05 a.m. at Kimberly Manor, following an illness of several years. Mr. Vlamis, a retired coal miner, was a former long-time resident of Rock Springs. He moved to Cheyenne for several years and returned to this city to live in November 1966. The deceased was a veteran of World War I, having served with the U.S. Army. He was born Jan. 18, 1891, in Crete, Greece. Survivors include one cousin, Mrs. Eva Sergakis, Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born Dec. 20, 1898 at Frontier, the daughter of Denver Llewelyn and Martha Overy Hysell. She was married to Maxwell Clark Robertson March 7, 1916 at Milburne. She is survived by her husband, Evanston; four sons, Earl T., Denver L., John F. and Vern Robertson, all of Evanston; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Annie Elizabeth) Hunshaw and Mrs. Kenneth (Bernice) Keyes, both of Evanston; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; eight brothers, Denver L. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in San Francisco, Calif., for Louis Birleffi, 76, of Calistoga, Calif., who died Feb. 1 after surgery at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco. Mr. Birleffi, a former longtime resident of Cumberland and Superior and a retired machinist, was born Dec. 27, 1890, in Rome, Italy. He came to the United States in 1914, living first in Bingham, Utah, and Butte, Mont., before moving to Cumberland and Superior. He moved to San Francisco and Calistoga several years ago. Survivors include his wife, Martha, Calistoga; one son, Evo J., Redwood City, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Guerino (Reka) Zotti, San Francisco and Mrs. Ted (Evelyn) Tagnolli, Rock Springs; three brothers, Joseph, Calistoga; Victor, Heartville; and Modesto, Rock Springs; one sister, Antonia, who lives in Italy; four grandsons, John and Reno Zotti and Lois Birleffi of San Francisco and Leon Tagnolli, Omaha, Neb., and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Angelo Ascani, Antonio Passetti, Gusto Ascani, Giovani G???, Otello Ascani and Laurenco Cavallini, all nephews. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Feb 4, 1967 MARIANNE BONOMO Marianne Bonomo, 23, 1310 Liberty Dr., Rock Springs, was killed Sunday evening when the car she was driving apparently hit a slick spot in the road 2.2 miles west of Creston Junction on Interstate 80 in Sweetwater County. According to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase, the car rolled over three times and came to rest on its wheels, after skidding and rolling 253 feet on the median strip of the highway. Miss Bonomo and her passenger, Joyce Job, 20, 1318 Virginia, were thrown out of the car. Miss Job was admitted to Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where she was reported to be in good condition. She suffered cuts, bruises and other minor injuries. The deceased died almost instantly of chest and internal injuries, Vase said. Miss Bonomo was born July 12, 1943 in Rock Springs, the daughter of Charles and Lena Visintainer Bonomo. Employed as a bookkeeper at Western Wyoming Community College in Reliance, she had lived in Rock Springs all her life. She was graduated from Rock Springs High School and attended the University of Seattle and Colorado State University. Survivors include her parents, Rock Springs; two brothers, Chuck and Gary, both of Rock Springs, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. FERGUSON Mrs. Ora A. (Flora) Ferguson, 80, 7658 Upham Street, Arvada, Colo., a former longtime resident of Rock Springs, died Saturday at 11:05 a.m. at Colonial Manor in Westminster, Colo., where she was a patient. Mrs. Ferguson, who left Rock Springs in 1952, was born Oct. 10, 1886, in Weidman, Mich. She had lived for 12 years in Glendale, Ariz., and moved to Arvada six weeks ago. Survivors include one grandson, Milo Struble, Arvada, Colo.; one granddaughter, Patricia Myers, Glendale, Ariz.; one brother, Ezra Putnam; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Price, and Mrs. Ella Denslow, both of Michigan, and Celia Mosher, Florida; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. (UPI)—Authorities at Lander said the body of Wilmer Wampler, 70, was found Thursday in his Lander apartment. He apparently died of a heart attack. Wampler lived in an apartment above a Lander clothing store. The owner of the store, Denzil Burns, said he became worried about Wampler when he hadn’t seen him for about four days. Mr. Thompson, a retired employee of Mountain Fuel Supply Co., had been hospitalized five days. He had been in ill health since September. The deceased was born Aug. 16, 1904, in Bloomington, Idaho, the son of Peter and Hanna Arnell Thompson. He married Irene Palmer in Bloomington Jan. 25, 1923. Mr. Gorhar, who lived in Reliance several years, was born July 11, 1922 in Cumberland, the son of Peter and Agnes Grohar. He was employed as a supervisory assistant for the Pan-American Petroleum plant in Elk Basin. DUPONT Linard Earl Dupont, 69, 821 Dewar Drive, died Saturday at 11:55 a.m., shortly after he had been admitted to Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Dupont, a resident of Rock Springs 22 years, apparently blacked out while driving his automobile on Grant Street. The car went out of control, striking a vehicle owned by Richard B. Hostetler, 591 B Street, according to Rock Springs Police. The deceased was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he died of an apparent heart attack, according to the police officers. Mr. Dupont, a local motel proprietor, was born June 16, 1897, in Hartshorne, Okla. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Murray, John Lee and Joe Weeks. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Apr 1, 1967 CESARE ANGELI Cesare Angeli, 79, of Rawlins, a former longtime resident of Superior, died Tuesday at 11:50 a.m. in Carbon County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient one week. Mr. Angeli, a retired coal miner who moved to Rawlins 10 years ago, died after a long illness. The deceased was born Oct. 13, 1887, in Cloz, Trento, Italy. He came to Superior in 106 to work in the coal mines and retired in 1953. Mr. Angeli was a member of St. Vivian’s Catholic Church in Superior, United Mine Workers of America, Local No. 2328, and Societa Fratellanza Operia of Superior. Mr. Noble was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Glendale, Calif., the son of John and Rosetha Collingham Noble. He married Vaeda Grace Meeks, Oct. 10, 1959, in Elko, Nev. He was a veteran or the Korean War. Jones, George Hardin and Joe Rudelich. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Apr 1, 1967 NICK CYMBAL Funeral services were held Monday morning at Francom Mortuary Chapel in Green River for Nick Cymbal, 45, of Green River, who was killed in a mine shaft fall. The Rev. Dennis Serdahl of St. John’s Episcopal Church officiated. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery. Cymbal was killed March 22, about 1:15 p.m. when he fell 92 feet down a working shaft at Allied Chemical Co. site, 10 miles northwest of Green River. Mr. Cymbal, whose home was at 35 South Sixth West, Green River, had come to Southwestern Wyoming from Nevada two months ago to work for the Boyles Construction Co. He had suffered a broken arm the first day of work and had been idle until Tuesday, March 21, when he returned to work. He was born in Krasne, Poland, Dec. 12, 1921. He served in the Polish army during World War II, then came to the United States 16 years ago, becoming a naturalized citizen six years ago. The family moved to Green River from Las Vegas about the first of the year. Mr. Cymbal had lived in many cities in the Western United States, where he followed his trade as mucking machine operator. Mr. Ferrero was born Jan. 3, 1892, in Baldiserro, Torino, Italy, the son of Antone and Theresa Ferrero. He was a member of the BPO Elks, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Italian Society. HARROWER James King Harrower, 61, a Pinedale businessman and Wyoming historian, died Saturday morning in a Lander Hospital of a heart attack suffered while at South Pass City with five other members of the South Pass Historical Preserve Committee. Mr. Harrower, a former vice chairman of the committee, was taken to a hospital in Lander, where he died 30 minutes later. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Pinedale High School, the Rev. Lee Moore of the Pinedale Community Congregational Church officiating. Burial was in the Pinedale Cemetery. One of the founders of the Green River Rendezvous Celebration held each year at Pinedale, Mr. Harrower was a member of the Sublette County Historical Association, which he has served both as a member and president of the board. One of his ambitions was to see a Museum of the Mountain Men built in Pinedale, a project which is now in the planning stages. The deceased was born July 13, 1905, in Delagua, Colo., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Harrower. The family moved to Diamondville in 1911. Mr. Harrower was educated in Kemmerer schools and was graduated from Kemmerer High School in 1924. He worked for the United State Forest Service during the summers before his graduation and served as an assistant forest ranger in the Bridger National Forest and a construction engineer with the CCC until 1942. In 1942 he became game warden for Sublette County and was active in game conservation activities until 1946. Until his death, Mr. Harrower was an implement and lumber dealer in Pinedale. He was active in town government and served as councilman in Pinedale. He had been a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1923 and also was a member of the Royal Arch and Shriners. Survivors are his wife, the former Alice E. Morrow, whom he married June 28, 1930, in Pinedale; two sons, Dr. James K. Mr. Caddell, an employee of Union Pacific Railroad and a resident of this city since 1952, was born Oct. 23, 1901, in West Blocton, Ala., the son of Will and Mary Cutts Caddell. He married the former Willie Lou Ingram Jan. 28, 1923, in Blocton, Ala. The deceased was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. She had been in ill health one month. Mrs. Orme was born Aug. 23, 1903, in Claycross, Derbyshire, England. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, Neighbors of Woodcraft, Northside Episcopal Guild, and a former member of the Episcopal Church Choir. Henderson, 80, 323 East Prospect, Fort Collins, Colo., a former longtime resident of Rock Springs, died Thursday, May 4, at 11:30 a.m. at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, where he had been a patient for a week. He had been in ill health since October. Mr. Henderson, who left Rock Springs about 15 years ago to live in Fort Collins, was born March 10, 1887, in Delry, Ayreshire, Scotland. He is survived by his wife, Martha, Fort Collins; one stepson, Bill Strannigan, basketball coach at the University of Wyoming; four daughters, Mrs. George (Jennie) White, Mrs. Charles (Agnes) Travis and Mrs. Albert (Margaret) Sarcletti, all of Rock Springs, and Mrs. Joe (Catherine) Wise, who lives in Illinois; 11 grandchildren and other relatives living in Scotland. A resident of Rock Springs since 1933, Mr. Segura was a retired sheepherder. He was born Jan. 29, 1876, in Cerro, N.M., the son of Jesus and Maria Juanna Serva Segura. He is survived by three nieces. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at Vase Funeral Home. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, May 20, 1967 FRANCIS W. TANNER Francis Wood Tanner, 57, of Big Piney, who had served Sublette County as coroner since 1933, was killed Tuesday about 2 a.m. when his car ran into two cows on U.S. Highway 189, seven miles north of Big Piney. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Mr. Tanner was southbound, returning from a business trip to Pinedale, when the accident occurred. Evidence indicated the vehicle ran off the left side of t he highway, crossed back to the right side and rolled at least three times. Mr. Tanner was thrown out. John Penton of Pinedale, a truck driver, came upon the accident scene a short time later, found Mr. Tanner critically injured, and notified the authorities. Mr. Tanner was taken by ambulance to a Jackson hospital but died en route. His death was attributed to extreme head and chest injuries. Vice president of the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission, Mr. Tanner was appointed to the commission in 1965 by Gov. Cliff Hansen. He was elected vice president in March 1967. Mr. Tanner had lived all his life in Big Piney, which was the home of his parents for several years before his birth. He was born Nov. 18, 1910, in Chicago, Ill. He attended schools in Big Piney and was graduated from high school there. He attended the University of Wyoming, leaving school upon the death of his father, L.D. Tanner, in 1932. His father, who operated a hardware store, also was the undertaker in Big Piney for many years. Francis Tanner entered embalming school in California, for training which would allow him to take his father’s place. He married Helen Budd of Big Piney Dec. 25, 1953, in Big Piney. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, John and Bob Tanner, both of Big Piney, and Dick Tanner, serving the Quartermaster Corps of the Army at Ft. Lee, Va., with a transfer Tuesday to Ft. Lewis, Wash. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Clara Bishop, Powell; one sister, Mrs. Al Edwards, Worland; two half-sisters, Mrs. Lydia Sederlin of Carbondale, Ill., and Mrs. Ursula Abbot, Denver; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A member of the Presbyterian Church, Mr. Tanner also was past master of the Big Piney Masonic Lodge No. 47, AF & AM; 32nd degree Mason, Shriner and was a member of the Lions Club at Big Piney and Elks Lodge at Jackson. He served as chairman of Sublette County Planning Commission, was a past member of the school board and past mayor of Big Piney, having served as city councilman several years. Engaged in ranching at Boulder and Big Piney, Mr. Tanner also operated the mortuaries at Big Piney and Pinedale. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Big Piney High School gymnasium. FRED FLANKKI Mrs. Fred Flankki, 85, a patient at Kimberly Manor, died Thursday, May 11, at 9:30 p.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since May 1. Born Kathryn Jarkkala in Tornio, Finland, in 1881, Mrs. Flankki came to the United States in June 1905, living first in Carbon and Hanna before moving to Rock Springs in 1925. The Rev. Harold Stoddard of Eden Valley Baptist Church officiated at services. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery in Green River. Mr. Dunkle was born Sept. 22, 1942, in Evanston, the son of John N. and Edna B. Beatrix Dunkle. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. John N. According to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase, the tractor on which Mr. Dunkle was riding went out of control when it unhooked from the truck towing it. The vehicle rolled over, pinning the deceased under it. Mr. Dunkle was employed by Andrew Pal, who was driving the truck, towing the tractor for his lower ranch to the upper ranch. A graduate of South Rich High School in Randolph, Utah, Mr. Wright also was a veteran of World War II, during which he served in the U.S. Navy, holding the rank of seaman first class. PORENTA Adolph Joe Porenta, 51, 514 Q St., a lifelong resident of Rock Springs, died Sunday at 10 p.m. at Uinta County Memorial Hospital in Evanston. Mr. Porenta was being taken to Salt Lake City by ambulance for treatment, when his condition became worse near Evanston. The deceased was born Sept. 16, 1915, in Rock Springs, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Porenta. He was a member of the American Fraternal Union, No. 202, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Porenta was wounded in action in France and near the Czechoslovakian border. He was awarded a Purple Heart with the oak leaf cluster and a Bronze Star during his service from March 1942 to 1946. Mr. Hahn was en route to San Mateo from the East, where he had been visiting. Miss Hockett was born July 13, 1949, in Rock Springs and had lived in Rock Springs until her family moved to Cheyenne in August 1965. Hockett, 34, former longtime resident of Rock Springs, died Sunday at 3 p.m. at DePaul Hospital in Cheyenne. His daughter, Bonnie, was killed in a motorcycle accident near Eaton, Colo., five days before his death. Mr. Hockett had been a resident of Rock Springs until August 1965, when he and his family moved to Cheyenne. He had been in ill health and had been a patient at DePaul Hospital for five days preceding his death. He was born March 27, 1933, in Big Piney. He is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Lynn and Sherri, all of Cheyenne; his mother, Rosalie Hockett of Pinedale; two sisters, Lynette and Gail Hockett and one brother, Maj. She and her husband moved to Cheyenne in August 1962 to live with their daughter, Maxine. The former Rena Margaret Clark, Mrs. Hoxie was born in Coolwater, Mich., Feb. 18, 1887, and was married to Lewis O. Hoxie Feb. 3, 1910, at Fenton, Mich. The Hoxies observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1960 and were members of the Golden Wedding Club at Jackson, Mich. Mrs. Hoxie was a teacher in the Jackson, Mich., schools for 25 years, having graduated from Albin College. She was a member and active in the First Methodist Church, Jackson, serving as soloist for 40 years. She did graduate work at the University of Michigan Conservatory of Music. Along with her public school duties, she taught voice for 25 years. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, Jackson Women’s Club and Tuesday Morning Music Club of Jackson. Bean, 62, 1020 Wyoming, who died Thursday, July 6, of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Rev. J. Dean Foley officiated. Burial was in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. Bean died Thursday about 1 p.m. after he was rushed to Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital for treatment of the wound, suffered about 11:30 a.m. while he was in the office at the back of the John Bean Jewelry Store, 432 South Main, according to Sheriff John Zakovich. The deceased, owner of the John Bean Jewelry Store, had been a resident of Rock Springs since 1937. He was born March 18, 1905, in Elwood, Neb., and was graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1929. Mr. Bean was a member of the BPO Elks, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Masonic Lodge and had served on the OPA Ration Board, Selective Service Board and as president of the Chamber of Commerce, during which he broke ground for the Rock Springs Community Park. Hoxie, 83, 200 East 19th St., Cheyenne, father of the late Allard Hoxie of Rock Springs, died Saturday at his home in Cheyenne. Mr. Hoxie, who was born in Michigan, moved to Cheyenne in August 1962 to live with his daughter, Maxine. He married Rena Margaret Clark Feb. 10, 1910 in Fenton, Mich. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1960 and were member of the Golden Wedding Club at Jackson, Mich. Mrs. Hoxie died June 30, 1967. She was buried in Rock Springs. The deceased was a member of the state and local historical society of Jackson, Mich., and the Gem and Mineral Society of Cheyenne. He was interested in Indian relics and lore and had an extensive collection, part of which now is on display during the Cheyenne Centennial Celebration. While living in Jackson, Mich., Mr. Hoxie served on the board of the Jackson County Meidcal Facility, was a member of the Audubon Society and past president of the Retired Teachers’ Association of Jackson. Walker, 62, of Powell, died at his home Thursday of an apparent heart attack. Miller attended public schools in Powell. He received his B.A. from the University of Wyoming in 1929, and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University. Before his retirement, he was a geologist with the California-Texas Oil Co. He was a member of the American Professional Geologists Association and the Powell Rotary Club. The deceased attended Rock Springs schools and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 151; IOOF and United Mine Workers of America. Mr. Bertagnolli was born Nov. 9, 1887, in Fondo, Trentinio, Tyrol, Austria, the son of Joseph and Candida Batisti Bertagnolli. He was reared and educated in Austria. In 1906, he came to the United States, settling in Superior, where he worked in the coal mines. He married Elisa C. Bertagnolli in Treto, Fondo, Trentino, Austria, June 3, 1913. She died July 9, 1949. He lived in Superior until June 1919, when he moved to Ogden, where he engaged in dairy farming and building. In 1931 he built the Mountain View Motel in Ogden which he operated until retiring in 1957. He had been hospitalized the past six weeks. Mr. Petrovich was born in Monarch, Wyo., Sept. 22, 1918. He attended schools in Sheridan. A resident of Rock Springs the past 14 years, he was employed in maintenance work at the FMC mine at Westvaco. Earlier he had been employed in Sheridan in the coal mines. A World War II veteran, he served in the Pacific with the Navy. James Franklin Chalcraft Jr., three-year-old son of Mrs. Eldine Chalcraft, 809 McCarty, Rock Springs, died of suffocation when he apparently locked himself inside a refrigerator in a camper truck parked beside his home Saturday, Aug. 19, according to Undersheriff Jim Stark. County Coroner Peter R. Vase said an autopsy revealed that the child died of suffocation. The child was born March 1, 1964, in Thermopolis. He had been a resident of Rock Springs since June 1967. Mr. Cragun, who was a social worker with the Wyoming State Hospital in Evanston, had worked extensively with the County Volunteer Service in Rock Springs, and with the placement and rehabilitation of former mental patients in this community. Mr. Collett, a retired bartender, was born Aug. 1, 1880, in Cokeville, the son of Sylvester and Helen Gee Collett. He married the former Gladys Rasmussen and for many years was engaged in the sheep ranching business with her father, Dave Rasmussen, in the Rock Springs area. She died May 24, 1955. Marcus Reno at the Custer Battlefield National Cemetery, 65 miles southeast of Billings, Mont. He was selected, with two or three others from Wyoming, during the American Legion National Convention in Boston, to serve as pallbearer. He is the only Wyoming member of the 40 & 8, who is a Vietnam veteran. Maj. Reno’s body is being removed from a pauper’s grave near Washington, D.C. She was born Dora Agnes Cattani April 15, 1917, the daughter of Abel and Ramona Delpierre Cattani. She was married to John Albert Williams Sr. April 9, 1932, in Rock Springs. He died June 21, 1967. The deceased was a member of the Episcopal Church. ERICKSON Bernard Nels Erickson, 47, of Erickson Ranch, 28 miles south of Rock Springs, was found dead at his home Saturday, Sept. 30, by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nels R. Erickson. According to Sweetwater county Coroner Peter Vase, Mr. Erickson’s death was attributed to an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head. Time of death was estimated to be Saturday about noon. Authorities said Erickson had been despondent and had left a note. Undersheriff James Stark also investigated. Mr. Erickson was born April 3, 1920, in Rock Springs, the son of Nels R. and Erma Isabella Sweeney Erickson. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Pallbearers were Colin Hamilton, Ron Frame, Bob Tynsky, Ray McDonough, Jack Kleinhans and Milan Painovich. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Oct 21, 1967 LESTER FALER Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at St. Andrews in the Pines Episcopal Church in Pinedale for Lester Faler, 18, of Pinedale, a freshman student at Western Wyoming College, who died early Tuesday morning of a brain tumor, shortly after entering Holy Cross Hospital, Salt Lake City. The student had been taken ill Monday morning and at that time entered Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital. As his condition became worse Tuesday, he was taken at 4 a.m. by plane to the hospital in Utah. Attending WWC on an athletic scholarship and majoring in physical education, Lester Faler had been living in the WWC Athletic Dormitory, 833 Connecticut. He was a member of the college basketball team. He had attended the Utah-Wyoming football game Saturday in Salt Lake City and while he was said to be “quiet” after the game and throughout Sunday, relatives said his illness was first noticed Monday. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Faler, Lester was born in Jackson Aug. 20, 1949. His father, who was elk hunting in the New Fork Lake area, about 33 miles from Pinedale, was notified of his son’s death when a message was dropped from an airplane. Lester was a graduate of Pinedale High School, where he was an outstanding athlete, lettering in football, basketball and track during his four years in high school. President of the Pinedale High School Athletic Club, he had received several offers of athletic scholarships when he was graduated from high school. A member of St. Andrews in the Pines Episcopal Church, Pinedale, he was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent E. (Vint) falter, pioneers of the Pinedale country. His mother is the former Beulah Millar of Indian Head, Md. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are one brother, Judson, a senior student at Westminster College, Salt Lake City; several uncles and aunts, including Maurice Faler and Mrs. J.F. In ill health the past month, Mrs. Kolman had been a Rock Springs resident since 1909. The former Mary Bobic, Mrs. Kolman was born July 1, 1875, in Harstnik, Yugoslavia, the daughter of George and Mary Bobic. She was married to Joseph Kolman in Austria May 28, 1899. The deceased was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. A life-long resident of Rock Springs, Mrs. Blakely had been hospitalized two weeks and in ill health 22 months. Born July 29, 1920, Mrs. Blakely was the daughter of George and Lenore Caviness Asmussen. She was married to Howard S. Blakely Aug. 23, 1910, at Camp Barkley, Tex. The deceased was a member of Rock Springs Woman's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She attended school at Provo. She was married to Walter Mills Aug. 11, 1911 at Evanston. The marriage was solemnized Oct. 15, 1915 at the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City. Mr. Menghini, hospitalized since April 20, had been in ill health one year. Born Aug. 9, 1882, at Brez, Trento, Austria, the deceased was associated with Union Mercantile Co. for many years. According to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase, Mr. Junior, who had been employed as a railroad section hand at Granger since January 1953, apparently died of exposure early Sunday morning. Investigating officers learned that Mr. Junior was last seen Saturday at 10:30 p.m. He apparently had been drinking heavily and was found lying the the roadway near the Granger crossing by Mrs. Lois Long Eggleston of Kemmerer, who was on her way to her parents' home in Granger. Mrs. Eggleston notified her brother, Dale Long, who, with two companions, Charles BLuemel and George Blasi, took Mr. Junior to his home. Deputy Sheriff Eldon Chapman also investigated. Mr. Junior was born Aug. 15, 1928, at Crown Point, N.M. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Fannie J. Thompson, Cuba, N.M. Born Miriam Walters, Aug. 3, 1875, at Sawick, England, Mrs. Shedden was the daughter of Richard and Sarah Brandriff Walters. She was married to Charles A. Shedden Aug. 10, 1899, in Rock Springs. Mrs. Shedden was elected county superintendent of schools in 1916 and served until 1932. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star and Rock Springs Woman's Club. Fletcher Aug. 17, 1911, in Ogden, Utah. Mrs. Fletcher was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Neighbors of the Woodcraft and the North American Benefit Association. The deceased was employed by Lockheed Aircraft Corp. in California at the time of his retirement and had resided in Hollywood, Calif., since 1910. He was a former long-time Casper resident. She was married to Frank Bacskay March 22, 1904, in Hungary and came to the United States in 1907, moving to Rock Springs from New Jersey in 1908. EMMA WILDE Mrs. Emma Janet Daniels Wilde, 82, 1127 Lincoln, a Rock Springs resident 40 years, died Monday, Nov. 20, at 6:40 a.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient two weeks. Mrs. Wilde was born Sept. 27, 1885, at Coalville, Utah. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rock Springs First Ward. For the past 21 years, Mrs. Wilde lived with her daughter, Mrs. Victor Dona, in Rock Springs. Survivors are two sons, Clyde Daniels, Reliance and Laddie Daniels, Rock Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Henry E. (Blanche) Welsh and Mrs. Victor (Murla) Dona, both of Rock Springs; one brother, P.L. Buchanan, Huntington Park, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Irene) Miller, Rock Springs, and Mrs. J.M. YENNE Masonic funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at Rogan Mortuary Chapel for Harold A. Yenne, 65, 105 Pine, Rock Springs, who died Saturday, Nov. 25, in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Yenne, who was Mountain Fuel district foreman until his retirement Nov. 1, was born Oct. 28, 1902 at Grant, Neb., the son of Frank and Carrie Edwards Yenne. He had been with Mountain Fuel since June 6, 1940, when he began work as roustabout and advanced to district foreman, a position he held at retirement. Mr. Yenne had lived in Rock Springs 27 years. Survivors are his wife, Grace, Rock Springs; one son, H. Gale Yenne, Rock Springs; one daughter, Mrs. Rogene Peck, Pueblo, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Howard (Marguerite) Stephens, Grant, Neb., and seven grandchildren. Drnas, 73, 720 Muir Ave., Rock Springs a retired businessman, died Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 2:05 p.m. in Sweetwater County memorial Hospital where he had been a patient 12 days. Mr. Drnas, who had lived in Rock Springs since 1913, had been in ill health since July. He was born Sept. 25, 1894, in Split, Dalmatia, Yugoslavia, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 151; BPO Elks No. 624, and the Croatian Fraternal Union, No. 374. He had been ill for the past few months. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at Rock Springs First Congregational Church, the Rev. Douglas Wasson officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. Born Jan. 26, 1916, in Rock Springs, Mr. Larrabaster was the son of Casimiro and Aniceta Apraiz Larrabaster. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. Mr. Larrabaster was a graduate of Rock Springs High School and had attended the University of Wyoming. Mrs. Mehal was born Dec. 23, 1902, in Hastings, Pa., the daughter of John and Lucinda Kirkpatrick Ryan. She was married to Stephen A. Mehal Feb. 1, 1937, in Barnsboro, Pa. He died Sept. 18, 1964. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church for John Radosevich, 65, 1035 Adams Ave., Rock Springs, who died Tuesday, Dec. 19, in the LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City, where he had been receiving treatment for a week. He had suffered a heart attack last April and had undergone surgery Monday for tests. His death reaulted from a heart attack. Mr. Radosevich, who was foreman for the Rife Estate Sheep Co., was born June 8, 1902, in Yugoslavia, the son of George and Mary Rudelich Radosevich Sr. He had lived in Rock Springs most of his life and attended Rock Springs schools. He was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Coatian Fraternal Union, No. 34. JOSEPH REDFERN Mrs. Joseph (Anna Susan) Redfern, 99, 6270 W. 38th Ave., Denver, Colo., a former resident of Rock Springs, died Dec. 9 at her home. The only surviving member among a family of seven born in Windsor, Canada, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Drouillard. She had lived in Wyoming most of her life. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Redfern, whom she married 37 years ago. She formerly was employed by the Detroit Free press. She resigned and moved to Lander, where she was appointed county court stenographer. She met and was married to Douglas Preston, a defense lawyer, later attorney general for Wyoming. William Matthew Sr., 88, 1922 ½ Burwell, Bremerton, Wash., a former long-time resident of Rock Springs, died Thursday, Dec. 21, at a Bremerton hospital, two hours after he was admitted. Mr. Matthew, a retired machinist, was born June 15, 1879, in Balnacake Farm, Forfarshire, Scotland. He moved to Bremerton from Rock Springs five years ago. His wife, Margaret W. Matthew, died in 1955. The deceased was a member of the Congregational Church, the Masonic Lodge, Rawlins; Korein Temple of the Shrine, Rawlins, and the Scottish Rite. Logan, 18, 125 J St., a senior at Rock Springs High School, died Friday at 10:55 p.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a two-car accident 11 ½ miles north of Rock Springs on U.S. 187 at 8:15 p.m. Joe was born Sept. 27, 1949, in Rock Springs, and was a member of the First Congregational Church. Zadra, 92, a resident of Rock Springs for 60 years, who died Friday at 10 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Cologna, Ogden, Utah. Mr. Zadra, who came to Rock Springs in 1898, was employed by the Bates Sheep Co. as a herder for many years before working as a miner for the Central Coal and Coke Co. mine in Rock Springs. He was retired in 1937 from the coal company. He had made his home at 1139 Vermont St. in Rock Springs until the death of his wife, Mary, July 13, 1964. Since that time he has lived with his daughter in Ogden. Mr. Zadra was born Nov. 1, 1875, in Ciz, Tyrol, Italy, the son of Louis and Teresa Zadra. He returned to Italy in 1907 and married Mary Clementi Feb. 18, 1908, in Tyrol. They returned to Rock Springs in 1913 and made their home here since then. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Survivors include one son, Leno, Rock Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Cologna, Ogden; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Tim Zadra, Rock Springs, and a sister, Serafina Gasperetti, Ciz, Tyrol, Italy. SMITH Mrs. Thomas William (Elizabeth) Smith, 81, 7847 S. 280 E., Sandy, Utah, died Friday, Dec. 15, at 6 a.m. in St. Mark’s Hospital, Salt Lake City, where she had been a patient one day. Death resulted from a heart attack. She was born Nov. 2, 1886, in County Durham, England, the daughter of George W. and Sarah Herrheinton Bird. Her husband, Thomas William Smith, died April 10, 1965. Mrs. Smith, a former longtime resident of Rock Springs, came here in 1923. She made her home in Rock Springs until 1 ½ years ago, when she moved to Utah. She was a member of the Episcopal Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Harry (Elsie) Spooner, Columbus, Ga.; three sons, James H., Tacoma, Wash.; Thomas J., Sandy, Utah, and Harry, Casper; one sister, Ada; three brothers, Jack, Joe and Fred Bird, all of whom live in England; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Oliver (Hilda) Sains, Rock Springs. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 18 at Vase Funeral Home, the Rev. Dean Foley of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, Rock Springs, officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Smith, Tom Smith, Harry Smith, Harry Spooner, Oliver Sains and Bob Sains. ---
