Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 1, 1966 HAYDN FULTON WILLIAMS Haydn Fulton Williams, 69, 932 McKinley Avenue, a longtime area resident, died Friday morning, Dec. 24, at Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where eh had been a patient six days. He had been in ill health three weeks. Born May 18, 1896, in Edwardsville, Pa., he had been a resident of this area 55 years and was a retired machinist for the Union Pacific Coal Co. He was a Navy veteran of World War I. Mr. Williams was a member of the American Legion, Archie Hay Post No. 24, and the Masonic Lodge, No. 12, AF & AM. Survivors include one sister, Sara Williams, Denver, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. David F. Williams, Rock Springs; one nephew, Robert Williams, Brigham City, Utah; several cousins, including Morgan F. Roberts, Rock Springs; one great-niece and one great-nephew. Funeral services were Monday morning, Dec. 27, at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Biro officiating. Masonic graveside services were conducted at the family plot in Mountain View Cemetery, where military graveside services were also held, conducted by the American Legion and Wyoming National Guard. WILDE Emma May Wilde, 71, 409 E Street, died of a heart attack suffered Friday, Dec. 24, about 5 a.m. on Gobel Street. Miss Wilde apparently had left her home for an early morning walk, when the fatal attack occurred. Her death was discovered by John Boysen, newspaper carrier, who was in the area, making his rounds. He noticed Miss Wilde’s body, where she had fallen on the sidewalk, and reported to Amrose Hamilton, 610 Gobel. Hamilton notified the authorities. Peter R. Vase, Sweetwater County coroner, said Miss Wilde had been dead about an hour when the body was discovered. He attributed her death to natural causes. Born in McCook, Neb., May 21, 1894, she had been a resident of this community 65 years. A retired clerk, she had worked at the Miners Mercantile Co. Miss Wilde was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion and the Macabees. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. James (Gladys) Travis, Rock Springs; one niece, Mrs. Norvell (Marjene) Brown, Spokane, and three great-nieces. Funeral services were Tuesday morning, Dec. 28, at the Vase Funeral Home, the Rev. Dean Foley of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion officiating. Interment was in the family plot in Mountain View Cemetery. Sather, 77, 411 Powell, a native and lifelong resident of Rock Springs, died Saturday morning, Dec. 25, at Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he has been a patient one day. He had been in ill health a few months. Born Oct. 9, 1888 in Rock Springs, he attended Rock Springs schools and married Irene Armstrong April 20, 1910, in Rock Springs. Mr. Sather was a retired coal miner and past president of the United Mine Workers of America, Local No. 2174. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, and president of the Labor Temple Association for many years. Survivors include his wife, Irene, Rock Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Otho (Marie) Headd, Canyon Creek, and Mrs. Woodrow (Lily) Emery, San Diego, Calif.; one son, Vern Sather, Rock Springs; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Alice) Wilde, Mrs. Irene Thevil and Mrs. Violet Oas, all of Rock Springs; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. SARAFINA MICHELLI Mrs. Sarafina Michelli, 85-year-old resident of Rock Springs, died at Kimberly Manor Tuesday morning. She had been a resident of this city 45 years. Mrs. Michelli had been in ill health the past month. Born in Casiz, Tyrol, Italy, Sept. 3, 1880, she came to Rock Springs upon coming to the United States in 1920. She was married to Giovani (John) Michelli in Rock Springs the same year. A coal miner, he died in 1932. One baby daughter of the couple died in infancy. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Louise Bunker, living in the state of Washington, and several nieces and nephews, including Henry Menghini of Rock Springs. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Albin Gnidovec officiating. Burial was in a local cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Menghini, Harry Menghini, Fred Menghini, Angelo Simon, Fred Toresani and Bud Zanoni. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 1, 1966 Evanston Residents’ Brother Is Killed EVANSTON—(Special)—Harold Richard Jones, 66, of Randolph, Utah, was killed in a truck accident at his ranch in Randolph, on Tuesday, December 28. He was born on August 20, 1899, in Randolph, the son of John Richard and Jane Simpson Jones. He married Myrtle Rex Sept. 22, 1920, in Logan, Utah. He was a member of the LDS Church and was engaged in ranching. Surviving are his wife of Randolph; two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Betty) Sessions, Evanston, and Mrs. Tom (Deanna) Chadwick, Preston, Idaho; three sons, Rex Jones, Evanston; Gary Jones, Brigham City, Utah, and Claude Jones, Ogden; 15 grandchildren and two brothers and three sisters, John, Alyce and Lea Jones, all of Evanston; Milton Jones, Weston, Idaho, and Mrs. Ann Hopkins, Ogden. Cederdahl, 54, of 509 Fifth Avenue West, Rock Springs, died at her home early Thursday morning following a lengthy illness. Born in Maywood, Neb., Oct. 21, 1911, she had been a resident of Rock Springs the past 14 years. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Sam (Geraldine) May of Reliance; one son, Harold of Gillette; two brothers, John Seide, residing in Colorado and Alvah Seide, North Platte, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Ada) Nagle, Omaha, Neb.; father, William Seide, Omaha; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her husband died several years ago. Mrs. Cederdahl was a member of the First Methodist Church. Funeral services are pending. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 8, 1966 GEORGE PARFITT George Parfitt, 90, former resident of Rock Springs for 60 years, died Saturday at noon in a hospital in Everett, Wash. Mr. Parfitt was born March 11, 1875, at Beaufort, South Wales. A former Sweetwater County stock inspector, he left here 5 ½ years ago to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Elsie McCoy, Seattle. Surviving, in addition to Mrs. McCoy, are a second daughter, Mrs. Violet Lydell of Grand Junction, Colo., and three grandchildren. Mr. Parfitt was preceded in death by his wife six years ago. She was buried in Rock Springs. Funeral services were held Thursday morning in Rogan Chapel, Rock Springs. The Rev. Dean Foley of the Episcopal Church officiated. Cisneros, 76, 615 Gobel, died Thursday morning at the Sweetwater County Hospital, where he had been a patient for 27 days. A resident here since 1960, Mr. Cisneros was a retired farmer and an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mary, Rock Springs; two brothers, Cornelio and Max, and one sister, Mrs. Salene Gonzales, all of Center, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Steve, John, Felix and Rosemarie Cisneros, Rock Springs; Licio and Robert Lovato, Silverton, Colo., and Angela Vigil, Albuquerque, N.M.; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. BREDTHAUER Clarence Edward (Skeets) Bredthauer, 48-year-old former resident of Rock Springs, died Sunday morning, Jan. 2, in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for 10 days. Mr. Bredthauer had been living in Sacramento since his move from Rock Springs 12 years ago. He had recently returned to Rock Springs to attend the funeral services for his brother-in-law, Marion Evenovich and was taken ill at that time. Born April 17, 1917, Mr. Bredthauer was the proprietor of tire supply in Sacramento. Survivors include his wife, Rose, and one son, Gary J., both of Sacramento; one daughter, Norma K., San Francisco; three sisters, Mrs. Sophie Fuss, Ord, Neb.; Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Meyer, Ottowa, Neb., and Mrs. Lillian Smith, Los Angeles; one step-sister, Mrs. Marce (M????) Huhtala, 62, died Thursday morning, Dec. 30 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Andrew Spence, in Reliance where he had lived since 1963. He had been in ill health for one year. Mr. Huhtala was born in Hanna June 23, 1906 and graduated from Hanna High School. He was a veteran of the Army serving in World War II. Prior to World War II he attended the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1926 with a degree in engineering. He had been employed by the Edison Company Test Department for 35 years before his retirement in 1963. During that time with the Edison Company, he made his home in California. Mr. Huhtala was a member of the Edison Company Diamond Club, the Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 431; the Masonic Lodge No. 3, AF & AM, Laramie, a 32nd-degree Mason of the Pasadena Consistory, Al Malaikah Temple, Los Angeles, and was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Andrew (Vandla) Spence, Reliance; one nephew, Robert Spence, Reliance; two nieces, Karen Spence, Reliance, and Mrs. Ed (Darlene) Mehegan, Des Plaines, Ill.; two great-nieces and two great-nephews, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ida Huhtala, Rawlins. Mr. Motto, whose home was at 895 Kingston, Aurora, Colo., had lived 12 years in Colorado, where he was engaged in the decorating business. Surviving are his wife, Trudy, Aurora; one son, Richard, Aurora; two grandchildren; one brother, Joseph J. Motto, Rock Springs; two sisters, Mrs. Leo Kudar and Mrs. Mary Lison, both of Rock Springs, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Joseph Motto, Joseph Motto Jr., Leo Kudar, Levar Covert, Albert Valdez and William Burrel. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 8, 1966 Retired Local Restaurateur Dies Friday Leo (Fong) Gain Yuen, 55, of 149 Noble Drive, died Friday at 9:11 a.m. at Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient two days. In ill health the past several years, he was a retired restaurateur. He had been in Rock Springs since 1928. He was born Oct. 19, 1909, at Canton, China. Surviving are his wife, Kngar of Hong Kong; two sons, Frank of Los Angeles and Richard of Rock Springs; one daughter, Yep of Hong Kong; one sister, Shee, Hong Kong; his father, Leo Hung of Rock Springs; 10 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins, and one uncle. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Vase Funeral Home, the Rev. Douglas Wasson of First Congregational Church officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary chapel at 154 Elk Street Sunday and Sunday evening and Monday until service time. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 11, 1966 Charles Spence, Former State Senator, Dies Charles W. Spence, 79, former resident of Rock Springs and a former Utah and Wyoming legislator, died of cancer Saturday at 5 a.m. at his home in Salt Lake City. He served in the Wyoming Legislature in 1927 and 1929 before moving to Utah in 1930. He was a member of the Utah House of Representatives during the 1935 and 1937 sessions. In 1941, he served as a Utah Senator and then was named a mine inspector for the Utah State Industrial Commission, a post he held for nine years. In 1953, he returned to the Utah House for two consecutive terms, and in 1961 he served his final term as a state representative. He was active in mining most of his life, leaving elementary school to work in the coal mines at the age of 12 and supplementing his education with night school. His mining experience served as background for his interest in labor and social welfare legislation. Mr. Spence was a member of the United Mine Workers of America for 25 years and was president of the Wyoming UMWA for 10 years. He was born in Wyoming April 3, 1889, at Rock Springs, to Charles W. and Christine Robertson Spence. He married Carrie Nelson April 29, 1908, in Rock Springs. In 1926 he became assessor of Sweetwater County. Upon moving to Utah, he worked for about 10 years as a foreman at the Utah Apex Mine in Bingham. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and a high priest in the Harvard Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. G.M. (Hilta) Holbrook, Downey, Calif., Mrs. C.E. (Kat) Knutson, Mrs. J.B. (Janet) McLelland, Salt Lake City, and Mrs. C.O. (Carol) Confer, Gooding, Idaho; two sons, Charles O. Spence and Robert Spence, Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. M. Mrs. Luten was born Dec. 23, 1891, in Denver, Colo., and had been a resident of the Rock Springs area for 67 years. She was a member of the Order of Neighbors of Woodcraft. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Otto (Helen) Gabardi, Pinedale, and Mrs. Anne Fell, Pittsburg, Calif.; one step-daughter, Mrs. P.T. (Rhoda) Anderburg, Rock Springs; two sons, John Small Titmus, La Barge, and Sigurd George Titmus, Tempe, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. William L. (Edith) Matthews, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mrs. Sigurd (Bessie) Swanson, Mountain View, Calif.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Kenneth Pearson, Paul Gabardi, William Matthews, Blaine Richards, John Yakomovich and Cliff Russ. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 15, 1966 MABEL MAGUIRE Mrs. Mabel (Mickie) Maguire, 80, resident of Rock Springs for over 22 years, died Sunday, Jan. 9, in Oakland, Calif., where she was a patient at the Oakland Naval Hospital. She was active in helping both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Rock Springs for a number of years. While attending a den meeting in Rock Springs a short time ago, she fell, sustaining a fractured hip. She was confined to the hospital for treatment of that injury at the time of her death. Mrs. Maguire was born Mabel Maud Pettypool, Feb. 4, 1884, in Springfield, Ill. She was married to Charles L. Maguire in California, where both were associated with the telegraphy business, first with the railroad, then later with Western Union. The served Western Union in Sheridan, Wyo., and for 19 years in Rock Springs, where Mr. Maguire retired. A member of the Methodist Church, Mrs. Maguire also belonged to Neighbors of Woodcraft, Daughters of Nile, Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star, a life member of the Telegraphy Club of America, and Cub Pack No. 6 adult leader’s group. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. A.E. Gleason, El Sobrante, Calif., a grandchild and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Berkeley, Calif. Interment was in a cemetery in Stockton, Calif., where her husband is buried. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 15, 1966 SEPTIMUS REAY Septimus Reay, 73, 315 O Street, Rock Springs, who suffered a heart attack Sunday, Jan. 8, was dead on arrival at the Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital at 8:25 p.m. Mr. Reay, a retired coal miner, was born June 2, 1892, in County Durham, England. He served with the English Army and was a veteran of World War I. He had been a resident of this community since 1925. A member of the Methodist Church, Mr. Reay was also a member of Canadian Legion, and the United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include his wife, Linna, Rock Springs; one step-daughter, Mrs. S.T. (Lissa) Jefferson, Mathus, Tex.; three step-sons, Albert and John Miles, both of Rock Springs, and Harold, Wichita, Kan.; four brothers, John, Luke, Clark, and Bill Reay, all of England, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. in the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Oyer Morgan officiating. Interment was in the Canadian Legion plot at the Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Brown, Joe Giovanini Sr., Andrew Strannigan, Jack Timlin, Richard Orme, Thomas Osselton and John Retford. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 15, 1966 SALLY PARRISH Mrs. Sally Parrish, 85, died Friday, Jan. 7, at 8:45 a.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Dec. 28. Born April 29, 1880, in Huntsville, Tex., Mrs. Parrish had been a long-time resident of Rock Springs and Pinedale. Recently she had been making her home at Kimberly Manor. Survivors include a brother, Ray Stuard, Denver, Colo.; a niece, Mrs. Carl Moulden, Casper, and a nephew, John Larken, Keller, Tex. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Biro officiating. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.F. McCormick, Earle Lawless, Maurice Faler, Dick Schmidt, James Mullens and Ben Schultz. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 22, 1966 GEORGE GRAF George Graf, 76, of Green River, long-time member of Sweetwater County Fair Board and retired power plant worker, suffered an attack and died while shopping in a Green River grocery store Friday, Jan. 14, about 1:45 p.m. Mr. Graf, whose home was at 691 West Railroad Avenue, was accompanied by his wife on the shopping trip. They had driven to the store shortly before the attack occurred. Born Aug. 10, 1889, in Arvada, Colo., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Graf. He moved from Colorado to Green River in August 1929, when he accepted employment with the Utah Power and Light Co. in the power plant. He continued his employment with the Southern Wyoming Utilities Co., when it purchased the Utah Power and Light interests, and later he worked for the Pacific Power and Light Co., which assumed charge. Mr. Graf retired in March 1958. He married Louise Spinner in Green River June 24, 1930. He was a member of the Catholic Church and an active charter member of the Sweetwater County Historical Society. He was widely known throughout Sweetwater County, as he had served on the Sweetwater County Fair Board since it was first organized in 1945. He was treasurer of the board for eight years. He was community chairman for Green River for many years, and also was a frequent winner of fair awards for his vegetables. Surviving are his wife, Louise, Green River; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Mary Louise) Fleenor, Glendale, Calif.; two brothers, August Graf, Denver, Colo., and Fred Graf, Fort Collins, Colo.; six sisters, Mrs. Frances Ingling, Mrs. C.H. (Louise) LeHew, and Miss Anna Graf, all of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Tom (Catherine) Bartle, Glendora, Calif.; Mrs. Oswald (Edith) Hart, San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Clyde (Elizabeth) Vandiver, Ontario, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Green River, with the Rev. Thomas Cleary officiating. Gaensslen and Dr. John Bernard. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 22, 1966 ANTON KUSECK Anton Kuseck, 77, of 937 6th Street, Rock Springs, died early Friday morning, Jan. 14, in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for three days. He had been in ill health the last six months. A retired coal miner and resident of Rock Springs since 1904, Mr. Kuseck was born in Skofja, Loka, Yugoslavia, Dec. 23, 1888. He was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, SNPJ Lodge No. 10, and the United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include his wife, Frances, Rock Springs; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Rose) Pevic, Rock Springs; Mrs. Jerome (Frances) Francis, Grand Island, Neb., and Mrs. Stanley (Elsie) Dolence, Rock Springs; one son, Joseph, Rock Springs; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were two sons, Anton, who died in 1916, and Frank, who died in 1915. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 17, at 9 a.m. in SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. The Rt. Harry Thompson, 45, died Monday at New Haven, Conn., where he was studying for a master’s degree at Yale University. Thompson was a former Cheyenne city attorney, and had served as deputy state attorney under now Supreme Court Judge Norman B. Gray, and assistant in the U.S. attorney’s office under former Wyoming senator and governor J.J. Hickey. He moved to Casper in 1954 where he was on the staff of Marathon Oil Co. He was a graduate of Cheyenne High School and the University of Wyoming Law School. Survivors include his parents, retired Dist. Judge and Mrs. Sam Thompson of Cheyenne; his widow, Betty Jean, and two daughters, Barbara Jean, 20, and Latitia Louise, 10. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Jan 29, 1966 FRANK ZUPAN Frank Zupan, 75, 117 L Street, died Saturday morning, Jan. 22, in Sweetwater county Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for about five days. Born April 30, 1890, in Lovinca, Leka, Yugoslavia, Mr. Zupan had made his home in Princeton, Canada, where he was employed in the copper mine. He retired in Rock Springs about 10 years ago. Mr. Zupan was a member of Croatian Fraternal Union, No. 306. She had been in ill health for several years. Born May 12, 1885, in Rock Springs, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Whitmore, early-day pioneers of Rock Springs. In 1889, her father was elected sheriff of Sweetwater County and the family moved to Green River. She was married in 1903 to Charles Harris in Green River. They had two daughters, Mr. Harris died in 1911. She was married to Walter Siegel in Green River Dec. 31, 1912. He preceded her in death July 19, 1953. Mrs. Siegel was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Order of the Eastern Star, a charter member of Women of Woodcraft, and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Tom Whitmore Post, No. 28, Green River, which was named in honor of her father. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Harris Kemp, Green River, and Mrs. Lillian Harris McCoy, Chicago, Ill.; one son, Thomas Siegel, Cheyenne; two granddaughters, Margaret and Julia Siegel, and a grandson, Steven W. Edward (Ted) Smith, Sr., 80, 122 Thomas St., died Monday morning, Jan. 24, in the Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the last 13 days. Born Feb. 22, 1885, to William and Betsy Chambers Smith at Nottingham and Derby County, England, Mr. Smith was a retired coal miner and had been a resident of Rock Springs for 44 years. He had been in ill health for some time. A retired miner of the Union Pacific Coal Company, Mr. Rizzi had made his home in Ogden since 1942. He was born June 20, 1883, in Italy. The body of Mr. Jenkins was found by Chester Stovall, Ken Kovatch, and Jerry Doan after Stovall discovered he could not arouse Mr. Jenkins earlier. City Police Chief Louis Muir, Police Officer Millard Shoopman and Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase investigated the death. Born May 30, 1910, at Yakima, Wash., Mr. Jenkins had been a coal miner and later owned a shoe shine shop on North Front Street. He retired because of ill health several years ago. The man was noticed by Kenneth Uhis, who called the Rock Springs Police and an ambulance. Mr. Martinez was taken to the Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Born in Mora, N.M., in May, 1900, he had lived in the Rock Springs area about 30 years, working as a ranch hand and on the railroad. Hackett. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Mar 5, 1966 LAWRENCE DEMSHAR Lawrence Demshar, 93, 915 Lee Street, was found dead Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. at his home. According to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase, Mr. Demshar had died of natural causes on or about Feb. 27. The body of Mr. Demshar was found in his home by Mrs. Rubin Muniz, a neighbor, and Mrs. John Adovnik, the landlady. Sweetwater County sheriff's officers and Rock Springs city police, along with Coroner Vase, investigated the death. Mr. Demshar was born July 3, 1872, in Austria and came to the United States and Rock Springs in 1892. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the SNJP Lodge. Survivors include two cousins, Mrs. Frank (Jenny) Usenichnik, Rock Springs, and Mary Bogataj of Austria, and several nieces and nephews, also in Austria. Born Oct. 5, 1890, in Vrgorac, Dalmatia, Yugoslavia, Mr. Toly came to the United States and became a resident of Reliance 50 years ago. He was a retired coal miner and a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and the United Mine Workers of America. He had been active in the Democratic Party for the last 36 years and at the time of his death was a precinct committeeman in Reliance, and office which he had held for 15 years. Survivors include his wife, Mary, Reliance; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Frances) Reuter, Rock Springs; a brother, Joseph, Rock Springs; three sisters, Matija Glamuzina, Manda Kapovich and Eva Yelovich, all of Yugoslavia; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He had been in ill health for the last three years. A former Rock Springs police officer, Mr. Hansen was born Feb. 7, 1900, at Rockvale, Colo., and came to Rock Springs April 23, 1923. He married the former Nellie Gregory of Rock Springs June 2, 1925. Mr. Hansen became a police officer for the city in July 1936, a position he held until his retirement in May 1963. Until his recent illness, he had been employed as a traffic officer at the school crossing near the Washington School and SS. Cyril and Methodius School on Bridger Avenue. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Police Protection Assn. and the Wyoming Peace Officers Assn. Born Dec. 15, 1879, at Belper Derby, England, the daughter of Thomas and Hannah Willott Thomas [sic], she came tot his country and to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1883. She moved to Almy, Wyo., in 1887 and to Rock Springs in 1888. She was married to John T. Bowker March 2, 1898, in Rock Springs. He died in 1907. She was married to William F. Willson Aug. 9, 1908, in Rock Springs. He died in 1958. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Neighbors of Woodcraft. Children preceding her in death were Jack, Maude, Wilfred, Charles, Edward, Mary and William. According to Peter Vase, Sweetwater County coroner, Mr. Maki had apparently backed up his truck to load hay, when he suffered a heart attack and died. He had been last seen by H.C. Brown of Farson Sunday at 10 a.m. Vase said that he had been dead about 24 hours when he was found. Deputy Sheriffs Steve Babel, Rock Springs, and Floyd Henry, Farson, assisted in the investigation. Mr. Maki was born July 11, 1910, in Superior. He worked in the coal mines, but for the past three years he had been employed by the Chilton Land and Livestock Co. Sneddon, 81, 3713 Argon Drive, San Diego, Calif., died Monday in San Diego after a lengthy illness. Born Dec. 23, 1884, in Low Valleyfield, Scotland, he came to the U.S. in 1901. He lived in Rock Springs and Tacoma, Wash., prior to moving to San Diego in 1958. Mr. Sneddon was married June 4, 1912, in Colorado. He and his wife Hanna Wales Sneddon celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1962. He was a retired boilermaker. He had been in ill health the past two years. Born Nov. 14, 1893, in Rock Springs, he was a lifelong resident of the community and attended the city schools. He served with the U.S. Army during World War I as a military fireman and started as a fireman on the Rock Springs Fire Department in 1917. He was the only fireman employed by the city until 1922. A member of the department for 49 years, he was the fire chief for many years, a post he held until he retired June 1, 1962. He married the former Agnes Dalgas June 17, 1917, in Green River. (UPI)—The body of a Westminster, Calif., man was found by Union Pacific Railroad crews Thursday in a box car on a siding in the Rawlins yards. Carbon County Coroner Harry Cashman said Lester B. Dutton, 58, apparently died of exposure and termed the death accidental. Cashman said Dutton had been dead about a week. He said there would be no autopsy. The boxcar had been standing on the siding for several months. Kime, 44, of Urbana, Ohio, was found dead, the victim of carbon monoxide, Monday morning, April 18, in his car on Ridge Avenue. Born July 17, 1921 in Greenwood, Ind., he had been a resident of Urbana several years. Mr. Kime, an electrician, was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. The authorities were notified after he had been found by Mrs. James Hansen, and the investigation revealed that Mr. Kime had had a charcoal brickette fire going in a pan in his car. Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase said that the windows of the car were rolled up, and that Mr. Kime had died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Investigating the death, in addition to Vase, were Rock Springs city police officers, Millard Shoopman and George Lemich, Deputy Sheriff Steve Babel and Undersheriff James Stark. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Doris Hartley, Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Vase Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Wasson of the First Congregational Church officiated. Burial was in the American Legion plot at Mountain View Cemetery. Kaul Sr., 79, of 1032 Lincoln, died Monday at 8:10 p.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient four days. He had been in ill health since November. Born Aug. 17, 1886, at Slater, Mo., he attended school in Kansas. He moved to Lander in 1909, to Pinedale in 1916, and to Rock Springs in 1918, and had made his home in the Rock Springs area since that time. He was a retired hoisting engineer for the Union Pacific Coal Co. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ila, who died Feb. 27, 1927, at Winton. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Mr. Gibbons was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Wanship, Utah. He was employed as a truck driver. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kauchich of Rock Springs. She was married to Ray Noble Oct. 18, 1941. Mrs. Noble was a member of the Young Ladies Sodality of SS. Upon graduation from high school in 1947 she attended and was graduated from Central Business College in Denver, Colo. She returned to Rock Springs and was employed by the Mountain Fuel Supply Co. She was married to Jim Bamesberger Aug. 21, 1949, in SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Rock Springs. They made their home in Green River until 1952, when they moved to Pinedale. Her father preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1950. He had been in ill health several years. Mr. Lindroos was born at Cumberland, Wyo., April 11, 1905, and attended school in Reliance, where the Lindroos family resided for many years. He worked in the mines at Reliance, and in 1954 he moved to Hanna. He was employed by the Crow Lumber Co. of Saratoga. INGLE Charles James Wiley Ingle, 72-year-old retired coal miner, died Friday, May 20, at 10 a.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient seven days. A resident of Rock Springs 50 years, he was born June 20, 1893, at Coal Creek, Tenn. He married Isabella Beveridge in 1910. After her death May 12, 1941, he married Madge Chalmers March 20, 1945. Fred Clark Sr., 76, 403 Cedar Street, died Monday at 10:15 p.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for three days. He had been in ill health the past four years. Mr. Clark was born March 21, 1890, in Rock Springs, the son of William and Mary Baker Clark. The retired coal miner was married to the former Nettie Potter on Nov. 15, 1910, in Rock Springs. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Mr. Clark was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the United Mine Workers of America and the Union Pacific Old Timers Association. He attended Rock Springs schools. The deceased is survived by his wife, Nettie, of Rock Springs; seven sons, Thomas and Fred, both of Green River; Harold, Reliance; Jack, Rock Springs; Darrell, LeGrande, Ore.; Keith, Gooding, Idaho, and Donald, Wilson, and two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Marie) Pivik and Mrs. Francis (LaVerne) Campbell, both of Wilson. Raymond Dupont Sr., 66, longtime resident of Rock Springs, died Sunday morning at his home, 138 South Main Street, after several months’ illness. He was born April 15, 1900, in Phillips, Okla., t he son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Scott Dupont. When he was a small child, the Dupont family moved to Dawson, N.M., where he grew to manhood. He was employed in the coal mines in Dawson. He married Clara Littrell April 19, 1919, in Raton, N.M. They moved to Rock Springs in 1924, when he started employment in the coal mines here. He had been in business for himself since the mines closed. Mr. Dupont was a member of the Baptist Church. His wife died Nov. 30, 1961, and a daughter, Mrs. Joy King, died Dec. 15, 1965. Surviving are one son, Raymond L. Dupont of Green River; two daughters, Mrs. O.L. (Glenna Mae) Gray of Windsor, Colo., and Mrs. S.M. CHARLES PHILLIPS Mrs. Charles Phillips, 84, 332 P Street, died Tuesday, June 7, at 9:15 p.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital after a short illness. The former Marie Jensen, she was born Oct. 2, 1882, in Aalborg, Denmark, the daughter of Karl Christian Jensen and Sophia West Jensen. She attended a private Lutheran school in Denmark. In 1899 her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At 18 she immigrated to America, first living in Brigham City, Utah. She was married to Charles Edward Phillips of Lyman June 25, 1904. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. In 1937 they moved to Rock Springs. Mrs. Phillips was an active civic worker, club member and member of the LDS Church. She is survived by four sons, Leland, Evanston; Desmond and Sylvester, both of Lyman, and Joy, Rock Springs; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Ansta) Hickerson, Rock Springs; Mrs. Beck (Thelma) Clark, Provo, Utah, and Mrs. D. He came to the United States in 1902 and to Rock Springs in 1929. He was a retired coal miner. Mr. Kruljac was married Feb. 20, 1909, in Missouri. Mr. Pasquin, who lived alone, was a retired coal miner and a long-time resident of Rock Springs. He had served with the U.S. Army during World War II. (UPI)—A Sheridan mother charged in the beating death of her daughter was ordered this week to the state hospital at Evanston for 60 days of mental examinations. Virginia Kay Kukuchka pleaded innocent, innocent because of insanity and not triable because of present insanity to a manslaughter charge in the death of 5-year-old Carol Ann Kukuchka June 29. The mother brought the girl’s battered body to a Sheridan hospital where the little girl was pronounced dead. She had bruises on her and doctors said one arm had been broken at least a week before she died. She was a resident of Rock Springs all her life and was known as a fly-fishing expert. (UPI)—The body of a Billings investment firm agent was found face down in a gravel pit on the south edge of the city Thursday. Authorities said Calvin P. Treiber Jr., 42, a diabetic, apparently drowned when eh went swimming with his dog. Treiber’s parents live in Cody, Wyo. A neighbor said he saw the car parked and noticed it again several hours later. He said he went to the pit and found Treiber in the water. The former Mary Sever, Mrs. Russold was born Jan. 28, 1886, in St. Jur Pri Grosuplje, Yugoslavia, the daughter of Anton and Ann Sippel Sever. Her husband preceded her in death in 1942. Kvasnak, 58, of No. 6 District, Rock Springs was found dead Friday, July 15, in his home, by Rudy and Eddy Subic, friends who had gone to visit him. Death was attributed to a possible heart attack about 48 hours earlier, according to Peter Vase, Sweetwater County Coroner. Mr. Kavasnak was born Oct. 2, 1908, in Rock Springs, the son of Steve and Anna Holji Kvasnak. A truck driver, he was a member of the Slovak Lodge. She had been in ill health for 20 years. The former Leona Marie Yonssens, Mrs. Verstraeten was born May 4, 1883, in Gilly, Belgium, the daughter of Mr.a nd Mrs. Phillp Yonssens. She came to the United States in 1912 and was married to Henry Verstraeten in Girard, Kan., July 6, 1918. Mrs. Verstraeten is survived by her husband, Rock Springs; two sons, Richard Dupape, Rock Springs, and Henry Verstraeten Jr.; five grandsons; eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. MICHAEL KRPAN Mrs. Michael Krpan, 52, 709 Fourth Avenue West, a resident of Rock Springs for 42 years, was killed Sunday at 6:15 p.m. when she was thrown from a car five miles east of Hanna on U.S. Highway 30. The former Mary Sepich, Mrs. Krpan was born Nov. 18, 1913, in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Jacob and Julia Crnich Sepich. He had been in ill health the past 10 years. Mr. Godfrey was born Sept. 19, 1899, in McCook, Neb., the son of Walter and Lillian Scott Godfrey. He married the former Mildred Myers Minert in Laramie in 1921. At the time of his retirement in 1961, Mr. Godfrey was a foreman for Mountain Fuel Supply Co. in South Baxter. He attended schools in McCook, Meb., and Cheyenne. A member of the Rock Springs First Congregational Church, he also was a 32nd degree Mason. He had been in ill health since April. Mr. Condie was born April 3, 1909, in Dunferline, Scotland, the son of Samuel and Isabelle McDonald Condie. He came to the United States in 1926, when he also came to Rock Springs and was employed as a coal miner for several years. He married the former Violet Brun in Rock Springs April 20, 1935. They moved to Cheyenne from Rock Springs seven years ago. The deceased served as a member of the International Board of the United Mine Workers of America for many years and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, No. 151 in Rock Springs and Cheyenne First Congregational Church. JOHN HUFF Mrs. John Huff, 36, 1235 McKinley Ave., was found dead in her home Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 12:10 p.m., by her husband. According to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase, Mrs. Huff had been dead since early Wednesday morning. The former Hazel Mae Randolph, Mrs. Huff was born Dec. 25, 1929, in Mexia, Tex., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Randolph. She had been a resident of Rock Springs since 1961. She attended school in Mexia, the University of Texas and the University of Wyoming. A member of the Methodist Church, she also belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and Rebekah Lodge. (UPI)—A California girl, spending the summer at this northern Colorado resort, was found asphyxiated Friday in her rented duplex cabin. Deputy Coroner Eugene Green identified the victim as Gayle Mallotti, 19, of Santa Ana, Calif. Police Chief W.E. Banks said Miss Mallotti apparently left a lighted cigarette in an ash tray on the arm of a couch before retiring Thursday night. He said the couch was destroyed and her cabin had heavy smoke damage. The girl worked as a maid at the Kinnikinnik Motel and also at the King-Smorgee Smorgasbord in Estes Park. Banks said her mother had been notified of the death, but her father was en route to Canada on a business trip and hadn’t been contacted. Banks said a .38 caliber revolver was found on the burning couch when deputies arrived at the Red Top cabins about 7 a.m. He said five shells in the revolver had been spended due to the heat. Molten lead was found on the couch. Green said Miss Mallotti’s body was found on the floor next to the bed. Green listed the death as apparent asphyxiation. He said it appread the girl was trying to get out of bed when overcome with smoke. He said there was no indication of foul play. Two young men living in the duplex next to the victim said they smelled “something” shortly before 7 a.m. But Raymond Krapf, 21, of Edwardsville, Ill., said they thought it was some socks they had place on a hot-water heater. The former Sarah Blanche Adams, Mrs. Bade was born Dec. 8, 1901, in College Springs, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Maude Whipple Adams. She was married to Emil C. Bade in 1955 in Denver, Colo. ROBERTS Morgan F. Roberts, 73, 1328 Ninth Street, a resident of Rock Springs for 67 years, died at his home Saturday, Aug. 27, about 8 a.m. of a heart attack. Mr. Roberts was born May 11, 1893, in Miners Mills, Pa., the son of Benjamin H. and Ann Fulton Roberts. He came to Rock Springs in 1898 with his parents and attended schools in this city. The deceased was a member of the First Baptist Church, Union Pacific Old Timers Association and a member and past state president of Fraternal Order of Eagles. He served as city councilman for two terms with Mayors Bunning and James. He helped organize and played with the first basketball team in the city, was manager of the Rock Springs Baseball team in the early 1920s and helped organize the first Boy and Girl Scout Troops. Mr. Roberts retired from the Union Pacific Railroad and Coal Co. June 1, 1958, after 53 years of employment. Before retirement he was superintendent of the Rock Springs Power Plant. After retirement he was in the ranching business in Pinedale. He married Irene Hansen Armstrong Dec. 12, 1960. Survivors include his wife, Rock Springs; two sons, Morgan F. Jr., Creston, Iowa, and B. Marley was born Jan. 16, 1899, in Glenvar, Donegal, Ireland. He studied for the priesthood at St. Patrick’s College in Maynooth and at St. Kieran’s College in Kilkenny and was ordained in Kilkenny Cathedral June 8, 1924. He came to the United States in 1924, when he first served as assistant pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows. During that time he said mass often at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. He was pastor at several Wyoming communities, including Greybull, Gillette, Evanston and Green River. Before his appointment as pastor in Rock Springs, he was pastor at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Green River. He also was administrator at St. Joseph’s Church in Cheyenne. Msgr. Marley was appointed to the domestic prelates by Pope Paul VI Nov. 7, 1964, and invested as monsignor Jan. 31, 1955, in Rock Springs. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Susan Logue; one brother, William, and another brother and sister, names unknown, all of Ireland. Concelebrating the mass with Bishop Newell were Msgr. Albin Gnidovec of Rock Springs, Msgr. Thomas O’Riley of Casper, Msgr. James Hartman of Cheyenne and Msgr. John O’Connor of Kemmerer. The proper of the mass was sung by the Very Rev. John Meyer of Laramie, the Rev. William Delaney of Cheyenne and the Rev. Cyril Hamelovsky of Worland. Organist was Francine Garnick. Parish, Knights of Columbus and children’s rosaries were recited Sunday afternoon and evening at Our Lady of Sorrows. A retired coal miner, Mr. Karlogan had been in ill health for several months. Mr. Karlogan was born Dec. 25, 1887 in Montenegro, Yugoslavia. He served with the U.S. Army in World War I. She was born in Denver, Colo., Dec. 1, 1897, and had lived in Rawlins for two years. After retiring in 1959 she spent five years in Cheyenne. According to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase, Mr. Hendrich had been dead since Monday, Sept. 5. Mr. Hendrich was born Oct. 12, 1892 in Serbia. He came to the United States in 1935 and to Superior in 1928, when he was employed as a coal miner. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and United Mine Workers of America. Douglas, Karl Kovacich, Joe Kamenski, Steve Kovacich Sr., Eli Kovacich and Steve Kovacich Jr. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Oct 1, 1966 Early Rancher Of McKinnon Is Found Dead Wendell Moile Triplett, 63, pioneer rancher of McKinnon, was found dead in his home Friday at 11 a.m. by Harry Katzmeyer. Katzmeyer had gone to the Triplett home to have Mr. Triplett repair a fishing reel, when he found the man dead in his bed. Mr. Triplett was known to have a heart condition, which led to the assumption his death resulted from a heart attack. Undersheriff Bill Potts and Coroner Peter Vase conducted the investigation. They said it was assumed Mr. Triplett had been dead since early Thursday morning. Mr. Triplett was born in Fairview, Utah, Oct. 3, 1902, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Triplett. He had been engaged in ranching in the McKinnon area since 1933. He married Mary Pack in Salt Lake City Feb. 14, 1933. She preceded him in death Christmas Day of 1965. Surviving are two brothers, Ruel Triplett of Green River and Ral of Los Angeles, and two sisters, Mrs. Zelda Brady of Green River and Mrs. Hortense Abbot of Salt Lake City. June Killpack, 40-year-old Green River man who was maintenance superintendent of the Stauffer Chemical Co. mines, died Friday at 6 p.m. at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City. In ill health for several months, he had been hospitalized the last two months. He was born Dec. 6, 1925, at Ferron, Utah, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Llewellyn Killpack. His home was at 161 North Fifth West, Green River. Mr. Killpack married Kathryn Snow June 19, 1946, in the LDS Temple, Manti, Utah. He was an active member in the LDS Church. According to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase, Mr. Kappes was stringing fence with his son, Henry, about one mile southeast of the Mountain Fuel Mullen Camp, when he suffered a heart attack. Mr. Kappes was born Jan. 27, 1895, in Rock Springs, the son of Nick and Elizabeth Killian Kappes. He attended schools in this city. He married Ida Mae Brooks Nov. 1, 1933, in Rock Springs. He was a retired rancher. Pacheco. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Oct 22, 1966 JACK EUGENE WAGNER Funeral services for Jack Eugene Wagner, 28, Reliance, who was killed Monday when he was shot accidentally, were held Friday afternoon at Zion Congregational Church in Sterling, Colo. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Sterling. Mr. Wagner, who had lived in the area four years, was hunting 37 miles northwest of Big Piney with five companions when he was shot. A 7 mm. magnum rifle discharged accidentally while he and his companions were riding in a Land Rover. The charge caught Mr. Wagner, who was sitting behind the driver, facing the rear, in the left shoulder, and exited through the chest area. Mr. Wagner was born July 2, 1938, in Sterling, Colo., the son of David and Pauling Bath Wagner Sr. He attended schools in Sterling and enlisted in the Air Force for service from 1955 to 1959. He was employed by Forest Oil Co. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a life member of the American Federation of Musicians. Mr. Loya, a self-taught musician, played in the Union Pacific Coal Co. Band and was director of the Finnish Choral Society in the 1920s and 30s. He also led his own dance band for many years. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. Samora died Sunday morning of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound in the forehead, according to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase. Investigating officers from the Sweetwater county Sheriff’s Office and the Rock Springs Police Department said they found a .22 caliber rifle near Mr. Samora’s body and a foot-long stick in his hand. They said the stick apparently was used to push the trigger and discharge the gun. Officers said Mr. Samora left a note stating he had been despondent because of ill health. He was discharged from Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital Tuesday, Nov. 8, and had been in ill health two years. No inquest was held. The deceased was born July 25, 1884, in Saguache, Colo. (UPI)—Two people were killed on Wyoming highways Thursday, increasing the 1966 Wyoming traffic fatality toll to 140, compared to 163 at this time last year. The Wyoming Highway Patrol identified the two as Joan Whitedress of the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and Benjamin Harding Kills-Enemy, 24, Mitchell, Neb. Fremont County Coroner Larry Lee said an ambulance from either the Pine Ridge Reservation or the Rosebud Reservation, also in South Dakota, would pick up the bodies for funeral services in South Dakota. She had been in ill health the past few years and a patient at the hospital for five days. Mrs. Roberts was born June 16, 1893, in Rock Springs, the daughter of John L. and Elizabeth Nickolson Dykes. She attended school in Rock Springs and studied nursing at Wyoming General Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Roberts moved from Rock Springs to Twin Falls in 1958. She was a member of the First Baptist Churches of Rock Springs and Twin Falls; Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Neighbors of Woodcraft, Pythian Sisters and many church clubs. Mrs. Roberts, 1126 Sixth Avenue East, Twin Falls, Idaho, died Friday, Dec. 2, at 6:50 a.m. at the Magic Valley Memorial Hospital in Twin Falls, where she had been a patient five days. She had been in ill health the past few years. Mrs. Roberts was born June 16, 1893, in Rock Springs, the daughter of John L. and Elizabeth Nickolson Dykes. She attended schools and studied nursing at Wyoming General Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Roberts moved from Rock Springs to Twin Falls in 1958. She was a member of the First Baptist Churches of Rock Springs and Twin Falls; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Auxiliary; Neighbors of Woodcrafat, Pythian Sisters and many church clubs. Mr. Horiuchi had been in ill health since August 1963. Mr. Horiuchi was born March 20, 1903, in Kawaguchikko, Yamanashi, Japan. A retired Union Pacific Railroad employee, he entered private business in 1933 and retired in 1965 because of ill health. The deceased attended school in Japan and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion in Rock Springs. Survivors include his wife, Kaiiko, Rock Springs; two (line missing) and Stella, who is training as a nurse in Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers, Paul, Seattle, Wash., and Katsumasa, Kawaguchiko, Japan; two daughters, Nancy, Rock Springs (line missing) sisters, Nagayo, Tokyo, Japan, and Tsuryuo, Kawaguchiko, Japan, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. FRANK NAKAKO Mrs. Frank Nakako, 68, 125 Logan, died Monday, Nov. 28, at 4:10 p.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient one day. Mrs. Nakako, the former Tomiko Shimogawachi, was born Aug. 24, 1898, in Hiroshima, Japan. She came to Rock Springs March 31, 1942. DODDS Funeral services for Raymond A. Dodds, 74, who died Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7:25 a.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, were held Saturday morning, Dec. 10, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles Bartek officiated. Mr. Dodds, a resident of Rock Springs 45 years, lived at 329 Soulsby. He had been a patient at the hospital eight days. Mr. Dodds was born Aug. 14, 1892, in Carbon, the son of Abbot [sic] and Elizabeth Dodds. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. (Al) Fanelli, the former Isabelle Crippa, 61, was found dead at her home, 702 B Street, Rock Springs, Thursday, Dec. 8, at about 5:30 p.m. Mrs. Fanelli, who had fallen from her wheelchair, had been dead from 10 to 12 hours when her body was found, according to Sweetwater County Coroner Peter Vase. She had suffered a fractured hip about ayear ago and had been confined to her bed and a wheelchair since that time, although she was able to get about also with the aid of a cane. Mrs. Fanelli’s first husband was Edward Crippa, Rock Springs auto dealer, who was appointed U.S. Senator to complete the term of the late Sen. Lester G. Hunt of Wyoming after the latter’s death. She was married to L.A. Fanelli in July 1966 in Idaho. Survivors, in addition to her husband, are two nephews, Glen M. Eastman of Evanston and John A. Martin of Glendale, Calif., and a niece, Mrs. Walter (Jane) Hill of Casablanca, Morocco. Mrs. Fanelli, who had been a resident of Rock Springs 37 years, was born Nov. 30, 1905, in Evanston. Bertagnolli, Christian Bunning, John Taylor Jr., Emil Bertagnolli and John Lucas Jr. --- Rock Springs Daily Rocket-Miner, Dec 17, 1966 DUKE LARRIBASTER George (Duke) Larrabaster, 60, a retired welder and longtime resident of Rock Springs, died Friday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 a.m. at his home, 416 Blair. Mr. Larrabaster was born Jan. 29, 1906 in Busturia, Spain. He came to Rock Springs in 1908 with his family. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Larrabaster served as a corporal with the 90th Infantry, 315th Engineers Combat Battalion, at Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe and Northern France. He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action December 1944 in Germany. Mr. Larrabaster was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 151, American Legion, Archie Hay Post 24 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Martin (Virginia) Moss, Bozeman, Mont., Mrs. Fred (Elvira) Holt, San Francisco, Calif., and Leona, Rock Springs; three brothers, Roman, John and Fran,k, all of Rock Springs; four nieces and three nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Vase Funeral Home for James Hamilton Jr., 39, 612 Retford, Rock Springs, who died Tuesday, Dec. 13, in an automobile accident. The Rev. Douglas Wasson of First Congregational Church officiated. Mr. Hamilton was killed instantly Tuesday at 5:25 p.m., when the car he was driving struck the northeast corner of Blacks Fork Bridge on U.S. Highway 30 12.1 miles west of Green River. Mr. Hamilton was traveling west, apparently to Evanston, where he was employed as an orderly at Wyoming State Hospital. The deceased was born in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England, Feb. 20, 1927, the son of James and Ada Bonner Hamilton Sr. He came to the United States with his parents when he was seven months old. Mr. Hamilton attended schools in Rock Springs and was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamilton is survived by one brother, Jack, Rock Springs; one sister, Mrs. Bruce (June) McCurtain, Richfield, Utah, three nephews, two nieces and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Naab, 64, 809 New Hampshire Ave., a resident of Rock Springs 52 years, died Tuesday at 6:15 a.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Naab, the first woman to be admitted to United Mine Workers of America during World War I, when she was employed in the electrical maintenance department of Union Pacific Coal Co., had been hospitalized six weeks. The former Lucille Signorelli, she was born Jan. 27, 1902, in Tortona, Italy, the daughter of Angelo and Gina Monteleoni Signorelli. In addition to her husband, E.W. Naab, Chico, Calif., Mrs. Naab is survived by two sons, Raymond F. Venta and Edmund Dennis Naab, both of Rock Springs; three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Ida) Lawrence, Rock Springs; Mrs. Doyle (Vera) Joslin, Yonkers, N.Y., and Mrs. Robert (Rose) Cousins, Evanston; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. CUNDY Felix George Cundy, 82, 437 North Front Street, Rock Springs, died Wednseday at 3:55 a.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital of injuries suffered in an automobile accident Dec. 13. Mr. Cundy was the second victim of the accident, 12.1 miles west of Green River on Highway 30 at Black’s Fork Bridge. James Hamilton Jr., 39, Rock Springs was killed instantly when his car struck the bridge. The vehicle was struck by an eastbound car, driven by Mrs. Bertine Reese, 66, Rock Springs. Mr. Cundy was a passenger in the Reese car. A resident of Rock Springs 65 years, Mr. Cundy was born June 26, 1884, in Trinidad, Colo., the son of John and Elizabeth Newcomb Cundy. He married Mary Smidt March 9, 1909, in Rock Springs. Mr. Cundy was employed as a coal miner until 1925, when he entered the hotel business. Before his retirement from mining, he was superintendent of the Lion Coal Co. The deceased was a past grand exalted ruler of the Rock Springs BPO Elks and past president of the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission. Survivors include three sons, Oliver W., Wawa, Pa.; Jack S., Fort Collins, Colo., and Vic N., Rock Springs; eight grandchildren, Karen Cundy, Wawa, Pa.; Fred Cundy, with the U.S. armed forces in Germany; Charles Cundy, with the U.S. armed forces in Florida; John, Susan and Tom Cundy, all of Fort Collins, Colo., and Sharon and Vic A. Cundy, both of Rock Springs, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, who died Nov. 20, 1966, and one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Walker, who died in 1963. Mr. King, 71, 251 West Flaming Gorge Way, Green River, died Thursday, Dec. 22, at Mercy Hospital in Denver, Colo. He was born June 1, 1891, in Sterling, Colo. A retired railroad employee and sheriff’s officer, he was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, the Union Pacific Old Timers Association and the Wyoming Peace Officers Association.
