Miller, C. R. 'Sam'

C. R. "Sam" Miller, 62, died Sept. 23, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County. He was born Jan. 30, 1933, in Sheridan to Victor and Gladys (Clearwater) Miller. He was raised and educated in Sheridan, and graduated from Sheridan High School. He married Donna Hoyt on Nov. 12, 1954, in Sheridan. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service, he returned to Sheridan and worked for the Wyoming Highway Department. He became a district equipment supervisor and retired after 33 years in 1989. He enjoyed football, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He also coached Little League Baseball. He was a member of the VFW, NRA and the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of Sheridan; two sons, Sam Miller of Cheyenne and Michael Miller of Sheridan; three daughters, Cathy Fried, Cheryl Crook and Theresa Rice, all of Sheridan; four brothers, Victor Miller of Sheridan, Bill Miller of Sheridan, Bob Miller of Casper, and Jim Miller of Joliet, Mont.; three sisters, Irma Salstrom, Dorothy Dodd, and Betty Miller, all of Sheridan; and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Doolin officiating. Burial will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Memorials may benefit Webb Wright Baseball in care of Delphine Toner at the First Interstate Bank of Commerce, Box 2007, Sheridan. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Miller, Gladys N.

Gladys N. Miller, 1410 N. Main, died Tuesday at the Sheridan County Memorial Hospital. She was born Nov. 29, 1909, at Lakeside, Neb. She had worked as a maid at the Sundown Motel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, who died Nov. 9, 1969, and by a grandchild.

Survivors include five sons; Robert, Casper; Jim, Hardin, Mont.; Victor, Bill and Clarence "Sam" all of Sheridan; three daughters, Irma Salstrom and Betty Nelson, Sheridan, and Dorothy Stanko Dodd, Casper; a sister, Helen Miller, Bellingham, Wash.; and three brothers, Bernard, Arthur and Clarence Clearwater, all of Bellingham.

Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which are pending.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Champion Funeral Home for Gladys N. Miller, who died Tuesday at the Sheridan County Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Robert Varker will officiate and burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller is survived by four brothers including Earl Clearwater, Bellingham, Wash.; five sons; three daughters; a sister; 20 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. Memorials may benefit the Little League baseball program in care of Dan Madia, 1017 Victoria.

Victor G. Miller, a retired Cat Creek rancher, died at his home Sunday. He was 62. Miller was born July 23, 1907 in Russia, and resided at 355 East Fifth Street. He had ranched on Cat Creek until 1964 and had lived in this area since 1912. On Feb. 2, 1926 he married Gladys Clearwater in Billings, Mont. He was a member of the Eagle Lodge.

Survivors include his widow of Sheridan and the following children; Victor E. Miller, Sheridan; Robert A. Miller, Casper; William H. Miller, Sheridan; Irma Salstrom, Sheridan; Clarence Miller, Sheridan; Dorothy Stanko, Casper; Betty Sipe, Sheridan.

The following brothers and sisters also survive: Robert Miller, Sheridan; Fred Miller, Sheridan; Mrs. Millie Kramer, Sheridan; Mrs. Eugenia Miller, Sheridan; Mrs. Erma Reed Sheridan; Mrs. Lydia Walleck, Sheridan; Mrs. Emma Busby, Seattle Wash. His mother, Mrs. Eva Miller and 20 grandchildren and one great granddaughter also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 2 p.m. from champion Funeral home, and burial will be in Sheridan municipal cemetery.

Funeral services were held today at 2 p.m. from Champion Funeral home for Victor G. Miller, a retired Cat Creek rancher. Miller, who ranched for 35 years, died suddenly at his home, 355 East Fifth street, Nov. 9, at the age of 62. He was born July 23, 1907 in Russia, and had ranched on Cat Creek until 1964 and had lived in this area since 1912. On Feb. 2, 1926 he married Gladys Clearwater in Billings, Mont. Miller was a member of the Eagle lodge and a trustee member for eight years.

Survivors include his widow, Sheridan and eight children, Victor E. Miller, Sheridan; Robert A. Miller, Casper; William H. Miller, Sheridan; Irma Salstrom, Sheridan; Clarence Miller, Sheridan; Dorothy Stanko, Casper; Jim D. Miller, Sheridan, Betty Sipe, Big Horn.
