Don McKinney's Family History Home Page

My name is Don McKinney.  My father, Donald Earl McKinney, Sr was born and raised near Lander, Fremont County, Wyoming. His parents were Earl & Amelia "Dottie" (Farthing) McKinney who were also born and raised in Fremont County. My father left Wyoming during World War II joining the U.S. Horse Cavalry at Fort Riley, KS.

Dad's paternal grandparents, Ed & Nora (Gaylor) McKinney were pioneer ranchers in Fremont County, settling there during the 1880's. Dad's maternal grandparents, Ed & Eliza (Kimber) Farthing were also pioneers of Fremont County.

Dad's great-grandfather was Andrew "Jack" Gaylor who left Wyoming during the Spanish American War for Cuba, Philippines, etc never to return, becoming a "family mystery." He ended up in Yosemite National Park, California where he served as a Park Ranger until his death in 1921. See article: "Jack Gaylor, the Intrepid" on my home page.

I have several other articles concerning my father and his ancestors of Fremont County included on my page. If this material interests you & you believe my web page will benefit anyone, please feel free to include a link to my page on your site. http://members.tripod.com/don.mckinney/index.html
