The Virginian, Hotel &
Saloon. This historic hotel opened its doors
to guests with a Gala Party on September 30,
1911. It has been showing its customer's Old
Western hospitality for 112 years! Renovated
in 1984 it had its grand re-opening and is
still available for guests to spend a
memorable night within its walls. This
beautiful hotel consists of four antique
suites, twelve motel rooms, and sixteen
antique sleeping rooms. All this, along with
their recent addition, The Scotts' Cedar
Street Addition with 4 sleeping rooms, and
the newest addition to the Historic
Virginian Hotel, The Virginian Motel, which
consists of 20 motel rooms. It is situated
front and center on the Historic Lincoln
Highway it's even fun to get to with a
beautiful scenic drive. The Virginian
earned its name through Medicine Bow’s claim
to fame that it was the setting for Owen
Wasters' famous book called... you guessed
it, The Virginian! Owen Wister's book is
considered to be the first novel written
about the wild west, which was a best seller
for many years and still draws tourists to
this town today!

Being
a County or State Administrator is fun and rewarding. If you
have an interest in the history of Wyoming and the genealogy
of it's residents please consider it. If you think "there
is no way I can do this" there are many people ready,
willing and able to help you. It's not near as difficult as
you might think.
