This is the Central School
first constructed in 1886 it was the first
"brick and mortar" school in Rawlins. With
our ever-growing population, the school had
to expand, so in 1916 an addition was built
onto the back of the school. This building
would serve our community for 73 years as a
Place of learning and a beautiful landmark.
In 1959 the high school on East Brooks
Street was completed and the Carbon Building
was functioning as the middle school, the
town no longer saw a need for the outdated
building, so it was demolished. The Jeffrey
Center now stands in its place.
Do
you have information you'd like to share? Or would you

Being
a County or State Administrator is fun and rewarding. If you
have an interest in the history of Wyoming and the genealogy
of it's residents please consider it. If you think "there
is no way I can do this" there are many people ready,
willing and able to help you. It's not near as difficult as
you might think.
