This is the Central School first constructed in 1886 it was the first "brick and mortar" school in Rawlins. With our ever-growing population, the school had to expand, so in 1916 an addition was built onto the back of the school. This building would serve our community for 73 years as a Place of learning and a beautiful landmark. In 1959 the high school on East Brooks Street was completed and the Carbon Building was functioning as the middle school, the town no longer saw a need for the outdated building, so it was demolished. The Jeffrey Center now stands in its place.
